FALL WRITERS RETREAT

FALL PERSPECTIVE

A fall gathering for listening to what is essential, and moving with the enduring. Fall offers us a different way of thinking about change. The landscape changes without asking permission. The season invites us to notice what we might let go of, and what is worth moving forward with. Writers Retreat is a three-hour gathering that uses writing, poetry, somatic practice, and conversation to create space for listening to ourselves, to one another, and to what is asking to emerge.

We will move between solitude and community: listening inwardly, putting something onto the page, and returning to one another to share and witness.

THE 3-HOUR EXPERIENCE

ARRIVE — NOTICE TIME + PLACE

Through simple breath and sensory attention, we create a threshold between the pace of everyday life and the space we are entering.

LISTEN — FIND THE PAGE

We turn inward through poetry, observation, and writing. An image becomes an invitation rather than an interpretation. Writing prompts create openings to notice what is present, what is changing, and what may be asking for our attention.

GATHER — WITNESS & CONNECT

In small groups, we share what we choose to share. We practice listening without fixing, advising, or interpreting. Dscover what happens when individual reflection enters a collective space, and how another person's words can sometimes help us see our own experience differently.

EMERGE — CARRY SOMETHING FORWARD

Through a final writing and somatic practice, we consider:

What am I ready to release?
What is emerging?
What is essential?
What is worth carrying forward?

WHO is the Writers Retreat for?

For anyone who has something stirring inside them - a story, an idea, a question, or simply the desire to make space for what comes next. You do not have to be a technically trained writer, just curious about a reflective creative process.

WHERE will the retreat be held?

Kintsugi Village in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood will graciously host us for the Fall Writers Retreat.  A place where people of all ages can come together to learn, create, share experiences and discover a deeper sense of belonging. We will explore the gallery, gardens, and settle in to our own communal space to breath, reflect, notice, and share.
